Patriots Match Best Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Win Over New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five touchdowns this season
The New England Patriots tied their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph extends the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the Jets' first possession
But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to push the score to 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the win
