Keely Hodgkinson Concludes Campaign with Victorious Display at Athlos Meet in New York
The athlete recorded her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds last year in London.
The Olympic champion finished her two-lap season with a win at the women-only Athlos event in New York on Friday evening.
{The current Olympic champion, who secured bronze at the World Championships recently, excelled in an impressive win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a muscle issue.
Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell finished second once more in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) secured third place.
"I've barely raced this season so it was probably less of a struggle for me to compete and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.
"The atmosphere at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."
The women-only meet packed Icahn Stadium in its second edition, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and special crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.
The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to present the victors with their crowns.
Previous champions received $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.
The event also attracted several top athletes, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.
The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
